This is a 1933 or 1934 Ford 4-door phaeton fiberglass body built by Gibbon Fiberglass in Gibbon Nebraska back in 1983. The chrome-plated windshield frame, posts, and other windshield hardware came from Speedway Motors back in 1984. It has genuine leather seat covers on reproduction seat cushions, vinyl door and side panels, a canvas top covering, and a top boot made by Lebaron Bonney back in 2006.

This body has a very unique and interesting history. Part of the fiberglass floor on this body was removed and replaced with plywood to make this body fit on a 1935 Mercedes Benz chassis. The three large pieces of the fiberglass floor that were removed about 35 years ago are included with this body.

The 1933 and 1934 Ford frames have concave frame side rails while the 1935 Mercedes Benz has straight frame rails. In the next to the last photo of this listing you can see how the plywood floor adapted the curved body sub-rails to the flat frame on the trailer it is mounted on. The trailer shown under this body is titled and licensed in Washington and is included with this body.

After I bought this body, I was interested in building a pair of these cars at the same time with stock chassis so I called Gibbon Fiberglass for a quote on another body. They told me they sold the tooling for the Ford bodies to Dusty and Heather McDill at JPM Hot Rods. They recently emailed me with the following quotes:

Body with doors hinged and latched $ 8,700

Chrome windshield frame and stanchions installed 2,750

If available: top irons installed estimate 4,000

If available: leather seat upholstery kit estimate 2,500

If available: door & side panel kit estimate 1,500

If available: top covering estimate 1,200

If available: top boot assembly estimate 300
________________

Total estimated value here $ 20,950

I have yet to find a source for reproduction windshield parts or the top assembly. I have a friend leaving Montana in a week or so that may be able to deliver this body and trailer anywhere between Montana and Ohio.

Please call me to discuss delivery options. I can store this body here for a few months if you are planning a trip to Montana sometime later this year. Thanks a lot, Bob Woodburn 406-799-1847 in Bozeman Montana USA
