Default 1936 Ford Cigarette Lighter Knob

So I bought a set of replacement dash knobs for my 36 and have a problem with the one for the cigarette lighter. In the picture you can see the knob on the left connects to the element with a stud and the stud and knob are all one integrated piece. The replacement knob looks like it connects to a different kind of element. Any ideas about what I've got here and can someone share a picture of a 36 element this new knob is supposed to fit?

Can anyone help mgm60 with his Cigarette Lighter Knob for his 1936 Ford?
Refer to above Question.

The replacement knob that you have is for the original lighter element. Your element is a later design and won't work with that replacement knob.

Dennis Carpenter used to have a 6 knob with stud to fit the newer elements. See insert from his catalogue.

Thanks Don and Pete. Not sure that knob from Dennis Carpenter will work. It you look closed at the knob that goes with my element it has the narrow stud on the end, but that doesn't actually connect to anything in the element. Its the 1/4" threads at the base of the knob that screw into the element. Can't tell from the catalogue pictures if the DC knob has the stud and the 1/4" threads.

On another note old cigarette lighters are probably responsible for many of the vehicle fires

If that's the case, just glue it on. If you want it to work, I'd get the Carpenter knob and a new lighter element locally to fit it.
