Default 36-39 frame brackets

I have a 39 Ford frame bracket I was going to replace the 36 bracket on my frame but they have a different amount of drop which might affect clearance under the floor. The green book seems to list the same part number for both. The amount of the difference is approximately 1 inch.
Should I modify the bracket to match the 36? Or will it be OK to install as is?

The extra drop is for the wood floor support strips that were used 1935-36. The hole pattern is different 1935-36 (rod brakes), 1937-38 (cable brakes) and 1939-40 (juice brakes).

Me either...I didn't know Karl was reproducing these frame brackets....

Karl, how do I do an order for a pair of '35-'36 frame brackets? I'm guessing I go to your web site to order?

I need to repair two early model year '35 3w coupe frames by repairing or replacing those brackets. I believe I can straighten one set, but the other set has been severely chopped up, probably by a previous owner install some type of dual exhaust system, and then running over something that busted them up.

Thank you Karl, this site amazes me on how someone has the answer to everything.
I’m going to use this as a quick way to ID frames.

John, those damaged brackets show there are bad muffler shops vs good muffler shops.

I took an inch out of the 39 bracket and now it will clear the wood braces on the 36. Easy fix.
