Front timing cover rope seal on 59L
Using the modern version of the oil soaked rope seal for the front timing cover. All the reference books say the ends of the seal should protrude evenly. I have about .140. Is "even" all I need to know to go ? Thank you Fordbarners. See photo.

It does seem like there would be an undesirable offsetting shear action, but with that said, the required crush to the pan rope is accomplished, so be happy!
