Made the original post back in April and have long since solved the caper. Guess the post re-emerged with the addition of more info. Got a new shut off valve from Bratton and it works great. Changed out the pencil filter at the same time - which was clearly needed. Also rebuilt the old Zenith carb with a new inlet valve with a viton needle. Minor leak at first but seems to now seal completely after what might have been a brief break in. Now a happy camper and really enjoying the old Henry.
