Default Norcal to Michigan trip

So tomorrow I am heading to Michigan for the first time. I have a few extra days built into this trip to go to the Henry Ford Museum. What else should I try to see while there...?

Thanks....

Here's a link to most automotive museums;

For your non Ford fix, see the Walter P. Chrysler museum in Auburn Hills.MI and the ACD museum in Auburn IN.

Dinner at the Dearborn Inn.
Automotive Hall of Fame -- minimal vehicles but great personal history -next to HF Museum.
Piquette Plant -- home of the Model T
By the way, they have re-done the HF, so if you have been there over 4 years ago, it is totally different.
Have a safe trip --- bring you 'woolies', it is now officially cold in the upper Midwest.

Slow's BBQ on Mich. Ave, get there early.

The Gilmore was great, the Model A section was just opened earlier this year. Hope your thirsty, Michigan has a lot of great Micro-breweries. Scott

Tim
When at GF Village stop at Millers Bar on Michigan Ave - the place is a standby for the Ford staff! And they still use the honor system when you cash out - just tell them what you ordered and they bill you based upon your word!

Also a cool original drive in called Daly's Drive in on Plymouth Rd in Livonia - the drive in area is restored and all original.

If it were car weather - I would meet up with you in my 41!

Have fun!

Village is closed except on weekends for the next 3 weeks and then closes completely for the season except for special activities.
Ford Rouge plant tour is certainly worth taking...leaves from the Museum...weekdays
Plan accordingly....there is snow on the ground in Dearborn this evening.

You may not have time to do this, but I really enjoyed spending a day up north at Mackinac Island on the way home from a cross country trip this June. http://www.mackinac.com/
Also, I second the recomendation for going to Slow's BBQ Restaurant. We had some fantastic food there.

Tim when in Dearborn go check out Henry Fords mansion Fairlane - it is a cool place and has beautiful grounds you can walk around on. Very historic!

Have fun

We had a GREAT Lunch at Vinsetta Garage yesterday. Thanks for all the tips on things to do and see. We also went to the Canadian Auto Museum in Toronto, the Toronto Zoo and Niagara Falls. Lots of driving the past few days! Home in Colfax CA now, going to bed early tonight!
