Default 1932 Ford made national news - stolen vehicle

Saw this article on Fox News. Anyone know if this is a barner’s car?

http://www.foxnews.com/auto/2018/08/...ts-garage.html

Classic car theft seems to be on the rise, at least based on some of the national attention it’s getting. I read a post on the HAMB about an owner that had his ‘32 stolen only to be charged with insurance fraud when he filed the claim. Something about registering his fiberglass body ‘32 with a true ‘32 vin along with some other factors at play as well (details were a little sparse), but he shared his life was a living hell for some time after the theft; definetely an interesting and eye opening thread.

Moral of the story is lock your ladies up, check on them often and hope like hell the thieves don’t find you!

Sparse details generally means someone does not want to tell the full story. Insurance fraud is a crime and it's prosecuted aggressively. Sounds like someone insured a fiberglass car and tried to collect the value of a steel car from the insurance company.

Hard to visualize it being a "barners car" it's a street rod and was probably stolen for the 350 Chev. engine it may have in it.

Plus, it was reported on Fox News. If that isn't an oxymoron, I don't know what is. Fox news???

And it was not a "classic". Correctly used, this term denotes certain Cads, Packards, Pierce, and other luxury cars of the early years. Our Fords are just antique cars.

Thank you. Just like the all too often use of the word "restored".
Doesn't anyone care to learn and properly use the English language anymore?

The stolen car is a sedan and the other example is a glass 3W coupe. Different animals. I have never seen or heard of a glass sedan. I have no idea about the fraud unless it was not actually stolen. The HAMB guys are all looking for it. It is probably in a container at sea.

Plenty of "barners" that own old cars that are not stock.

Exactly! Even myself, I own a stock 1950 convertible and am working on a non-stock 1936 5W coupe (traditional hot rod); next project is a fenderless ‘30 Coupe. I enjoy the heck out of this website and have gained valuable information for all 3 of those vehicles.

My thinking when I posted that article is that it seems the theft of our beloved treasures is on the rise, this is just one story of many I’ve read recently. I live in a very small town and have moments of laziness when it comes to properly securing the vehicles. Is that risky...most certainly; it’s articles such as the one on Fox News and HAMB posts that has me questioning my level of comfort on how I store and secure my vehicles. I venture a guess I’m not the only one who is a little lax on that.
