Default Firewall questiion...again

I'm guessing the wooden firewalls on the 1919 tourings were plywood and not solid...whats the thickness ? I've been told by the oldtimers that it is less than 3/4 but i'm not sure ? Thought I'd save a few bucks and cut my own useing the the later T metal firewall as a template.
