Default oil sender leak

Hi
I have a leak at the oil sender. I remover it today and put pike dope (teflon) on it and tightened it up. Still leaks? I have a 42 with stock engine.
Thanks,
Dick

Are you certain it is leaking at the threads? My guess is it is leaking internally and flowing down making it appear it is leaking at the threads.

Tapered pipe thread can be damaged if installed with too much torque on either the fitting or the boss. Kube also has a point about the crimped design nature of the old King Seeley sender units. They can leak at a crimped or swaged assembly point sometimes.
