Re: 36 electrical issue
Update.
I traced the voltage drain problem to my right headlight. Running lights work and amp gauge has normal voltage drop. Low beam normal voltage drop. High beams do not go on and amp gauge bottoms out. The right bulb has low glow. I took bulb out and amp gauge moves up to normal voltage drop. Think my problem is a short in bulb socket. We have snow and cold weather here this week so it will be sometime before I put in new socket and test. Thanks for all input. |

Re: 36 electrical issue
With the lights on take a tester, ground it and touch each headlight casing- if the test light comes on BUY a 6v hologen converson kit to get rid of the old style socket that likes to shortout. My experience & the sockets were new

Re: 36 electrical issue
The headlamp socket wires can take a pretty good beating from the elements where they are routed. There might be a crack in the insulation that caused some internal corrosion if the wiring is pretty old. THose old bulb type sockets can be problematic though.
