Re: Model A Engine for Rebuild
You never know. I helped a friend restore a 1912 Model T engine that looked worse than that. I guess it all depends how much effort and money you are willing to invest. Generally I would try to find a block perhaps in a little bit less "weathered" condition. I cringe thinking about trying to get those studs removed....

Re: Model A Engine for Rebuild
I sold a clean complete dry storage '31 engine last year for that amt of money. Guess I sold it too cheap!

I like to play craps...poker too. When assessing a core engine its (in my opinion) better to find one completely assembled, generally disassembled engines indicate someone toreit down and gave up on it

Re: Model A Engine for Rebuild
That's exactly my thinking on it too. I've walked away from bare blocks many a time. Very often they come with no main bearing caps.

Re: Model A Engine for Rebuild
You still need the caps for poured bearings.

Re: Model A Engine for Rebuild
I was looking for a new mooring. No grease or oil on this one. Looks like it could work.
Need to get for free! What do you guys think? Enjoy. |

Scrap price till magnafluxed for cracks. Had one that looked just like that but had NEW babbitt. The fellow I sold it to for $100 put a super charger on it! We didn't know about the new babbitt till he opened it up!

Re: Model A Engine for Rebuild
$100.00 bucks at the most if the block tests bad at least you have some (good?) parts.
