Default V8 60 Alloy Heads

I have two V8 60 heads that I am looking at selling and want some advise as to what you think might be a fair price to ask for them. See the photos they are pretty solid but will need a little work. Thanks in advance, Meric.

Those things are usually cute-enough from an "oddity" type of perspective, but there's really no demand for 'em any more. Ya virtually can't give 'em away on eBay. Plus, those you have are not in the best of shape, especially with that corroded combustion chamber and broken-off plug. Good conversation pieces.....sorry. DD

I hate to bear bad news but they are not worthy too much. If they were NOS or mint, they would have some value. The condition yours appear to be in, well, sorry, but good luck selling them for any price.
Some guys build up a mock 60HP engine for the proverbial "man cave" as a display. Glass beaded, these look nice but even then, the value... not much.

I'm in the middle of modeling up these heads to cut a low-volume pattern to make new ones in iron and aluminum. The plan was to scale down a good 21 or 24 stud combustion chamber and offer them. Now I'm wondering if I should continue.

Doesn't sound like a high volume, money making project to me. If I were planning to build a 60hp engine and wanted aluminum heads, I would probably buy a set of repro finned aluminum that Speedway sells. If I wanted to go with cast iron, I see plenty of originals at flea markets that don't seem to sell. You might want to talk to Marty Willim (the late Rich Willim's son) and get some feel from him on the possible need for new 60hp heads in either material. Just saying.

ps...if anyone needs a stock set of used 17 stud 60hp heads, aluminum or cast iron, I have some good sets that I would be willing to sell. You can contact me via the Fordbarn by sending a pm.

Tod.......A few of us over here on the V8 side know who you are, and recognize your amazing development background, along with your casting and machining abilities. With such little activity and demand for the V8 60 engine as there is, I can't conceive that you could come close to breaking even on such an undertaking.

You do some beautiful work! DD

Thanks for the warm words, but I don't think people know just how little cost I can put into things to make money back - especially over the long term. If I could sell at least 10 sets of these heads I can make money. I plan to finish the model so I can cut the pattern at my leisure, but I think I will focus on 21 stud heads just after I get my other Model A head projects underway.

Plus, plenty of sources already available for aftermarket 21 stud aluminum heads.

https://www.fordbarn.com/forum/showth...=21+stud+heads

Only advantage another source might have is offering the same product at about half the cost of the existing sources. May be some market out there for new aftermarket '32-'36 and '37-E'38, 21 stud, cast iron heads...maybe??

I had a price in mind before I found out what they are going for and I'm confident people would be surprised to find out what I can do them for. Like $1000.00 or less.

Tod, any updates on these projects you were planning to do on 17 and 21 stud aluminum and cast iron heads? Just wondering.

The V8 60 tooling is almost ready to go. Other things have pushed the 21 stud heads back some. Lots going on right now.

Wish I knew you had started this project all ready..... Working on cad model for finned heads and s/c intake manifold myself. Hope to pour castings by the end of the year.
