Re: Windows XP - Leaves Most Very Vulnerable to Attack
Chrome Book is another option, they are very reasonably priced. If you don't mind online storage.

Any windows is Jurassic crap. I've had 7 for about 3-4 years and it's constantly gunked up with background garbage running. Have to have it cleaned a couple times a year. Next time in, windows is going down and I'm switching to Linux os

Re: Windows XP - Leaves Most Very Vulnerable to Attack
Went on line and started checking referbed units. Great news, I or any one looking to update, lots of choices with Windows 10 home installed for under $100 even free shipping. Guess you can guess my next move! Thanks for the heads up, didn't even think along that line.

Re: Windows XP - Leaves Most Very Vulnerable to Attack
One other helpful hint : get familiar with "System Restore". It can be used to go back to a previous good version of the operating system and programs. Before I used "Windows Defender", I got hit a couple of times with viruses ("viri?) and was able to bring back an earlier version of the system that was not contaminated. Sometimes it was kinda tricky to be quick enough on the trigger to catch the system after a reboot, but I was always able to do it. Whenever Windows does an update, it saves the previous version of the system (there are more than a few of these backup versions on the hard disk). I've never had to do it on Windows 10, but when it starts, it asks you whether you want to run "Windows 10" or "System Restore", which should make it much easier to invoke than before.
I spent time and money several times at the local computer guru's store until he was stupid enough to do it right in front of me, so I knew what to do. |

Microsoft stopped selling Windows 7. Unless you are doing games or photo shop. A good simple computer is a Chrome Book. You can get one for under $200.00.
