Drive across USA
Hi,
I never forgot my original project of driving Model A or maybe a V8 across USA. But there were a lot of obstacles paperwise since I am from Europe. What is the chance of finding a person who wants his car shipped from the east coast to the west coast (not the other way around), and instead of shipping I will drive it across and cover all the expenses? Maybe someone who sold it? I will need 1 month for the trip and the car should be in a condition where I within a few days can bring it to driveable/running conditions with a socket set and a few spare parts from Snyders. Re: Drive across USA
The chances of finding an older car where someone is willing to let you drive it across the country are very slim. However, I have seen ads from people looking for someone to drive their modern car across country to avoid the shipping cost. I don't know where you would place an add to get the best results.

Re: Drive across USA
You might try advertising in The Restorer (MAFCA) or the MARC magazines. Good luck!

Re: Drive across USA
The chance?
well under .1%. too much responsibility/liability on the party that owns the car. They would have to trust you w/o knowing you. |

Not being an American resident, you will find it virtually impossible to get insurance. Not very welcomoing and why I dismissed the idea a while ago. Try driving accross Australia instead. Same distance, less people and legally easier.

https://www.carsdirect.com/car-buyin...y-service-work I think it would be unlikely that someone with a collector car would contract one of these services, but you could at least have the coast to coast driving experience.

Re: Drive across USA
What car do you have to offer for a drive across Europe, perhaps there is someone that wants a part way around the world adventure and you could do the adventure together

Re: Drive across USA
Good luck with that idea.
You could always buy a car on the East Coast and drive it across country, then sell it on the other end. California prices are usually higher and you will either have a "proven" driver or a "fixer-upper" when your done. Your investment, your gain, or your loss. Best of all it's your adventure to look back on. As that great philosopher Forest Gump once said, "Life is like a box of chocolates." Chap |
