Default 9" rear in a 53 f-100

going to A 9" rear out of an early 60s f-100 , in my 53 f-100 , will this be A direct fit ,width is the same and mounting is the same , what about yoke ,and drive shaft ,

Drive shaft may or may not work as length needed may be different. Make sure you have 3/4" to 1" free play when you measure. The stock U bolts and spring plates should work along with your stock shocks as I recall.

You can bet that the driveshaft and probably u-joint yokes will take some modifications. I've never been lucky enough to get a 100% bolt-in with swaps like this.

BTW: When I built my high-horsepower 32 Coupe (520HP SBC), I put a custom 9" rear in it and needed a custom driveshaft. I ordered mine from Strange - cost a little over $300 - with high quality components and made to order.

Thought that was a very good price for a chrome moly custom piece:

put a 77 bronco 9" in my 41 3/4 ton and it was a direct bolt in fit--hope you are that lucky
