Default Rod Brake Parts - For 1930 RHD Tudor

City: England
State: UK

Hi,

I am in the UK and restoring a 1930 RHD Model A Tudor.

The A spent most of its life in Argentina and was converted to hydraulic brakes at some point.

I would like to convert it back to original rod brakes. The front back plates have been flipped upside down but other than that look unmodified, the rear back plates have been cut.

I have usable drums.

Ideally I'd like all the parts necessary to convert back (somebody making a hot rod and/or converting to hydraulic?)

I don't mind shipping from US - struggling to find the parts in UK at the moment.

Many thanks.

A word to the wise from someone who has been there, done that!!!
The brake cross shaft for a RH drive car is different from the one for a LH drive car and cannot be substituted or "made to work". If that part is missing, you will need to find a replacement RH drive cross shaft. The reason is the shape and angle of the arm that you connect the connector link from the brake pedal to it. Much better to contact the folks in New Zealand for this item. The rest of the brake parts are pretty much standard off the shelf parts.

George,

Very helpful, thanks. I thought there would be a difference from LHD to RHD somewhere.

Does a diagram for the brake system exist?

Thanks.

Edit: I've found some good diagrams in my book "Model A Ford for the Restorer by Victor W. Pagé." Makes understanding this a lot easier & getting the right name for the parts. I will update the Wanted ad with the parts I require.

Updated List:

The parts I am having trouble locating are:

RHD service brake cross shaft
RHD emergency brake cross shaft

All other parts I am able to obtain, either new or used.

Please contact me if you can assist in locating the above parts.

Many thanks.
