Default Not everyone likes old Fords.......

This morning decided to take the 32 out for a spin. On the way home I parked it on the forecourt of the local Ford Dealership.

The sales manager came out and asked me to move it, saying it was inappropriate for their forecourt !

The mind boggles !

Looks like you parked in a "handicapped" slot. DD

Should have told him you were going to trade it in for a new Ford. I remember a dealer offered me a brand new 1964 Ford for my 40 many years ago. I declined.

But why were you parked there? i have had someone tell me to get my car towed away while parking normally in town, as if they think i towed it in to town. Or at the gas station "Does that car go?", why else would i be putting fuel in it?

I think it may have taken me an hour or so to get it started. Most new car sales people are not car people; they are more like scavenger for the most part. Now before a lot of car sales people call me on this, I was in sales for several years and very successfully. Most of the people I worked with should have been in a traveling carinval hawking money grabbing fake games. There are exceptions.

It has been my experience that most new car dealers sales people know little or nothing about the lineage of the brand they are selling. Most of them can't even tell you specific things, you might ask, when inquiring about a new model on the showroom floor... Sad but true.

A few years back we went down to the local Ford dealership in the 33 to have a look at a new feisia for the wife Carol,we parked it in the dealer park,as the salesman came out to show us the new car and saw the 33 ,he went over and had a look, then said what type of car is that,I told him he should be shot,we bought the new car from another ford dealer.

I went into a dealership a couple months ago to look at the new one tons and asked the salesman if you could get a PTO on the truck. He said he didn't know what a PTO was but you could get one on it.

Your 32 would be quite welcome at our little Ford dealership in the coal region of Pennsylvania! Then again I have a 1949 Ford 8N sitting in my one car showroom and two 59AB engines sitting in the shop. Vic, I can identify every year of Ford from 1932-72 so I'm probably an exception. I have lots of old signs, pictures, KRW tools,
parts books going back to 1928. I've found that many of the company people aren't really versed on the history either. There used to be a lot of little guys like me but I can see a day coming when there won't be any...

In 2005 when Ford had just released the new GT our local Ford dealer had one delivered in the morning. They told me it would be on the floor by afternoon. Only a select few Ford dealers were given the opportunity to display the new GT. In fact they could,nt even sell one for a specific time period. I went back that afternoon in my '46 convertible and parked in front of the showroom. I went in to look over the GT and glanced out front where all the sales staff was looking at the '46. I was alone with the $269,000 car.

I would of thought he would have offered you money to park it there and attract customers. I bet he didn't realize it was a Ford. They could have pointed out that it is almost impossible to find a Chevrolet that old.

fantastic car, and if you are handicap then where is your mirror tag for when you park in handicap only parking spots so you can shut that ass of a salesman up? what a jerk that guy was anyway, probable worried that buyers would look at your car and not at all his new cars he had parked on his lot.
