Default 34 Roadster pick up question

There is a 34 Roadster pickup on eBay. I am not too familiar with them other than knowing they are rare. How can I tell if it is the real deal, being 85 years old...

Hard to say with everything on the interior of the body covered up. At worst it could be one of the late Bill Honda's reproduction '32 bodies married to an original '33-'34 drive-away cowl. The instrument panel, the windshield panel on the cowl, the windshield posts, and top irons all look correct in the photos.

Just judging by the front suspension pics, nothing is original Ford. The late owner had a lot of very nice cars (Street Rods) built by top builders. Some of it might be original, but a hell of a lot of it isn't. how much of the body is original is anyone's guess.

The owner's name was Jimmy Pfleuger. The car is probably well know, but in circles other than FordBarn.

Mart.

The SBF with Cobra valve covers is kinda a give away. Split wishbones, dropped axle and tube shocks. A bit Street Rod and a bit Hot Rod.

Still a nice truck even if it's modified. I sure liked his BB truck.

Here is a response from the seller:

New message from: clare-teixe (14Yellow Star)
Hello
This RPU is an original that was built in California by the late Mr. Bob Bauder for the late Mr. Jimmy Pfleuger of Hawaii. This RPU was last seen many years ago in Redlands , CA at an upholstery shop having the interior and top done. Jimmy had two 1934 RPU’s. About 3 or 4 years ago it was sent to auction on the mainland and sold for $130,000 according to Mr. Pfleuger. It was black as well, had a small block chevy/auto/9” rear axle and the bed had wooden planks in it. Jimmy kept this particular RPU because he stated that this particular RPU was in more pristine condition than the one he auctioned off. If you can contact Mr. Bauder’s sons/family hopefully they could provide you with some info regarding this all Ford running gear RPU. You are more than welcome to come and inspect this RPU in person. Also the engine installed was obtained from the late Mr. Ray Brock, editor of Hot Rod, good friend of Jimmy’s. There is very little information out there regarding 1934 Ford RPU production numbers and how many still exist. My guess-less than 15 units left. Thanks for your interest. Vic Edelbrock Jr., Ray Brock, Dan Woods, Roy Brizio, Mike Henry of H & H Flatheads were amongst many automotive notables that new Jimmy only had genuine original vehivles in his stable. It is an original RPU as far as I’m concerned but I don’t know how you or I can verify this with Ford documentation. Ford lost a lot of records when they incurred a fire years ago. There is a 1934 RPU for sale in Michigan but I believe it has a 1932 pickup bed installed. I hope the info provided will help you assess your decision. Feel free to contact Woods, Brizio or Henry to verify the info that I shared with you. Thanks again.
