Not much rainy weather. JM you need to check out those jack stands. Those are high quality cast aluminum. Thicker than what steels would be and everything fits tight. I like how they collapse and are east to carry. I let the car down on two of them and everything was stable. Those portable hydraulic or even screw scissor jacks do not have the stability these do.
I'm surprised no one has critiqued my dipstick.

Just thought someone might note that I was running 1030 synthetic and used that little. I'm thinking it will be ok for the trip home considering how much I've been driving to boil off any moisture and other contaminants from city driving.

I would not be concerned about your oil type. I think you are good to go!

It's a testament to the condition of this car that it just went 3600+ miles and didn't consume even a cup of oil. Amazing! I was thinking Frank must be a pretty good driver too. Riding shotgun in his beautiful '49 is a great memory. We were in Auburn IN at the time.

Last night I was completely wiped out as I did not sleep well the night before. I did manage 400 miles and we are north of 4000 for the trip. I got on the I5 for a few before heading over the mountain towards the coast. From there I got on 101 and headed south. Without a doubt a beautiful drive and I never realized what beautiful beaches are in Oregon. I got as far as Eureka California. Before getting here I did manage a slight detour through the Redwood National forest. Those are some big trees. I understand there is a drive through tree south of here and plan to check that out. Today I would like to cross the Golden Gate Bridge and head out of the city and find a town.

Bunches of photos coming through. Here's Frank getting the Long Distance Award mentioned in post #107. With Frank is EFV-8CA Prez Phil Hall. Phil was generous enough to let Frank and JM fly in and use his '36 during the previous WNM in Bakersfield!

And a quote from Frank from the 16th, "Covered about 400 miles which was not bad considering all the stops and curves. Feel like I'm not stopping enough but I figure my main purpose is to see the country and driving is letting me do that."

Freank I use to talk to you at the National meet. You always drove your car to the meets. I had the Maroon and Black Crestliner. Your trip is wonderful. I have enjoy it very much. Hope to see you in Mich. next summer.

Had a great time with Frank at the Seaside car show. He followed me down the coast and I lost him when he stopped to get some photos. I thought he may have stopped for the blonde who was hitch hiking on 101. He told me later that she had way too much luggage to fit in the '49!

Hi Everyone, A photo showed up this morning with this caption: "Exercising some patience. About 95 and a steep climb. When it gets hot let it cool before there are bigger problems."

Frank is a smart operator and this is an example of the kinds of habits he has, and is a part of why his car isn't using any oil so far.
