Re: prettiest years and ugliest years
The stars aligned to assure that every '34 was a beautiful car. I wish that I had the '34 Plymouth that I had when I was 22 years old.
My first V-8 was a '47 3/4 ton pickup. Not my favorite in regards to looks but gosh could it haul a load. After years of having only Model A's I bought a standard '39 Coupe. For me it is just gorgeous. |

Re: prettiest years and ugliest years
Hands down ,the 34's top of the heap, with the 40 deluxe a very close second. There aren't any ugly old Fords, however it's a good thing ole' Hank was still around when the 38' standard was unveiled!

Re: prettiest years and ugliest years
Any coupe, cab or roadster from 1932 to 1941 is stylistic but I am partial to 35/36 3 windows.

Re: prettiest years and ugliest years
My biased vote for ugliest are the 49-51 models. My family drove a black 2 door 50 sedan until 1965. I did not yet have my own car and the 50 was not exactly the coolest car to date girls in when I was in high school in the 60s. I never liked the split windshield from 37 on. Was curved glass technology not available then?

Re: prettiest years and ugliest years
Anything coupe, roadster or convertible. Sedans and more-doors besides those from 32-34 weren't the best looking cars of that period IMO.

Re: prettiest years and ugliest years
Even though I have been a '32 fan for almost 60 years and an owner for nearly 50, I have to admit that my pick is the 1933 roadster.

Re: prettiest years and ugliest years
I enjoyed to reading through this resurrected old thread.
I think that the thirties Fords are among the most handsome cars ever made, except for the 38 Deluxe. My faves are the 33 & 34 and the 39 Deluxe. I am happy to have a 39. Like Vic, I also am a big fan of the 39 Zephyr and 40 Continental. Over the years, the 37, the 41 and the 46-48s have grown on me. My ultimate might be a Zephyr coupe. |

Re: prettiest years and ugliest years
I know this isn't the place for streetrods, but I'm partial to '33s and '37's.....although I'm a little biased as I own these two. I'm a purist in a sense, in that both cars have only Ford sheetmetal and accessories, but obviously have modified suspension and running gear. Mine were both too far gone to make practical sense to restore, but I envy you that have nice originals. DSC01063.JPG

Re: prettiest years and ugliest years
I love the 32 to 34 roadsters. Maybe I will live long enough to own one. Ugliest are the 39 standard, 38 deluxe and the waterfall grill pickups.

Re: prettiest years and ugliest years
Here is my biased choice.. Can`t say I would trade for any other year in comparable condition.

Re: prettiest years and ugliest years
I don't know if '41 Business Coupes are the prettiest but this is the prettiest pic of mine.
You know just like women our old Fords, have that certain captivating stunning look that stops us dead in our tracks. You guys know what I'm talking about. When she looks at you that certain way. For me and my little '41 it's this 3/4 rear view at speed. I never saw what she looked like going down the road. I fell in love all over again. BTW this pic was taken at approximately 65 mph by Vic Piano on I75 north headed to Georgia. He was going around me in his '39 Convertible Sedan! |
