She did have a 1935 Ford phaeton for a while, amongst many other cars.

Not nearly as horrid as a '33 or '34 with a side-mounted spare.

Definitely “throws off” the lines of the car. But I guess if you were traveling around the world, extra tires and rims would be sort of a necessity.

"Beauty is in the eye of the beholder".. I know a man that owned, and maybe still does, a '34 Phaeton with dual front fender spares, left and right and two rear spares mounted in tandem behind an accessory trunk.
As I recall the car had large Lincoln brakes and was classified as being a Touring Phaeton.
Many years ago I sat in the car on several occasions, the original leather was very nice, kinda made a person feel like you were in a time machine and should have a Thompson Sub Machinegun sitting in your lap, with a snap brim fadora hat on.

I like side mounted spare tyres. I had a junk 35 fender that I tried to mock up a 35 spare wheel mount. As per the photo in the link the tyre ends up so far back you cannot open the door fully. If you push the tire forward towards the front tire you have to raise the spare so high that the top is higher than the hood. It just doesn’t fit right. The 35 Lincoln’s with side mounts work because the hood is longer. Anyway I tried but it’s as Henry built it!!

With four spare tires and a trunk he probably needed those Lincoln brakes!

Not Bill Sutton's '35. As I recall, his was a one off, two door phaeton creation of his with an extended hood line to accommodate the dual side mounts. As blucar said, "beauty is in the eye of the beholder". I thought Sutton's car was a great looking car.

Anybody know where that car is today?

Someone may have pictures of it.

I had photos of it years ago but they were misplaced, nowhere to be found.
