Hey Guys,
For all you guys that walked me through my "knocking" issues and prodded me to check for bent rods.....Thanks! Needless to say, I was in denial that it wasn't the valves but after 5 attempts of adjusting them, I gave in. I also found a whole section in one of the old manuals devoted to con. rods so I figured it was more critical than I thought. I found a engine rebuilder locally who straightened #'s 1 and 2 rods (10 bucks each). Lots better than new ones that someone tried to get me to buy. Ran it today and all's quiet except for the valves that I know are our of adj. from my fooling around.
Thanks Again and Keep em flying!
Pete
