Flywheel housing
Hey Guys,
I've got my B engine out out of my 29 for the winter and want to replace the flywheel housing. The one that came with it to adapt to the A was "modified" with a cutting torch and is cracked to boot. I'm getting a "new" one housing but I need to find out how much do I have cut off the bottom of the housing to clear the larger rear main? Does anyone have a photo? Can I cut enough off to be able to work on the rear main while in the car? I'm going to get a machinest to do a proper job if I can also. Thanks as always for your advice. Pete |

Re: Flywheel housing
The housing is no problem, it should clear as-is. The tin shield needs to be trimmed, but just a little. You probably have already done this on your old set-up? About removing the B main with an A housing, I don't know. Question, how often do you need to do this? Answer, not very!

Thanks! I just wonder why he carved it up? I haven't measured but I thought the rear main was enough bigger that I wouldn't allow the use of a stock A housing. You're right, I had to modify the dust cover though. Pete |
