Fire wall holes
Hi!!! Frank here after a long time.
I need help with the holes in my firewall. The picture shows the orange holes that need to be filled. The yellow that need to stay and the square was a captured nut that I don't know what it is used for. My Pops fordor has one on the other side for the speedo cable. Am I missing a hole? What is the purpose of one in the square? I also posted a picture of what I started with. Thanks for the help, Frank Last edited by frankvflorida; 01-30-2013 at 04:39 PM. |

Re: Fire wall holes
The captive nut in your square is a 12-24 nut for the bracket that holds the wire loom that comes from the generator and starter to the terminal box.

Re: Fire wall holes
you have a murray built car
the captive nut held a clip to hold the wire loom to the generator, to the firewall all woven looms had the same clip as the one on top of the water inlet.holding the same woven loom the early 30s had a metal conduit and this special clip shown i just have never put the correct conduit on (early 30) |

Re: Fire wall holes
Holy cow, that's a holey car!
I took a real good picture of a perfect firewall (ready for paint) just to show the correct holes. I'll see if I can find it and post it. |

Re: Fire wall holes
Frank, I feel for you. The cowl on my Victoria had 53 extra holes, including the big one for a manifold heater. Thanks to some excellent work by Mark Williamson, only the proper number of holes remain.

Re: Fire wall holes
I also saw the pic Frank. Since the nut shows on the firewall, I think we will take a captured nut from the floor board area and move it to Mr. Wesenberg's noted location.

Re: Fire wall holes
i dont know why my last post didnt take
here are a couple of photos of the speedometer cable clamp ,inside and out disreguard the accessory oil gauge tube the round head screw holds the clamp from the inside you should have a cage nut on the outside of your firewal for it (Murray) Briggs will have a D nut |
