Default 34 Firewall / Throttle fixing?

Just want clarification here.
Looking at the firewall (LHD V8) there are 3 holes to the left off where the throttle spoon comes thru the firewall.
The one on the left & right side are for 4 cyl vehicles as shown on Pg 4-5 of 33-34 restoration book and the central one for V8?
Does the V8 only use the central one and rely on fixing the other end by clamping over the covering tube with the cover bracket?
Also the finish on the spoon itself cadmium? and the lever and other parts on the firewall black?

The pedal (spoon) was originally Butler finish chrome (satin). The LHD V8 accelerator shaft is attached as you describe and was originally painted black, including the spring.
