I need some advice
I need some advice. I posted that “Bogus Scammers” thread and didn’t mention the name, address, email address, and phony phone number I was given because I don’t want to be hit wth a libel lawsuit. However, people should be aware of this supposed dude (?) and watch out for further scams by him. I tried to make contact with the MAFCA webmaster and report this, but couln’t connect when I clicked on the blue high-lighted MAFCA webmaster.
I know you don’t want to hear any more about any of this, and I don’t blame you. However, it still pisses me off that someone would take the time and go to all the effort of even trying to pull something like this on me. I don’t want this asshole to ever succeed or even be able to cause the frustration that he caused me to anybody else. Please help me figure out what to do, Mike |

Re: I need some advice
If you saw it let it go.Sounding the alarm if the perpetrator has plausible deniability opens you to recourse..I can almost guarantee the smart scammers live for a law suit.

Re: I need some advice
I wouldn't. Not for the possible legal reasons though.
It is very likely that the person(s) doing this are not even in this country. What with VOIP, caller ID spoofing, mail forwarding, etc, they can be anywhere in the world. Our law enforcement agencies don't have the resources, knowledge, or jurisdiction to do anything about things like this. Craigslist, on their Safety page, has information on detecting, avoiding, and reporting scams. Here is the Avoiding portion from that page: Avoiding Scams Deal locally, face-to-face —follow this one rule and avoid 99% of scam attempts.

Re: I need some advice
If you have a paper trail with the perp, and he has solicited any financial info, turn it over to your bank. They track these things. If there was mail or wire fraud involved, give your info to the state attorney general and file a complaint. If you suffered no threat or harm, but were only offended because of the perp’s attitude, let it go.

If your GUT tells you someone is a SCAMMER, just BLOW him OFF! That usually works, to quiet him.---ALSO, some people are just "PICTURE COLLECTORS"---
