I was at the mighty fine AACA car show and flea market in Winchester, VA today roaming thru the fleas. There were plenty of HO trains, but no Blu Comets(There was a collector book on antique toys which had a blu Comet listed). A fella had a collection of Boy Scout pinewood derby cars. All different. In all my years of collecting I don't believe I have ever seen one of those home-done jobs for sale. I was stunified. With all the sweat and love put into those cars, why would they ever leave their proud owner? He had about 15 of them in all different colors and wanted $5 each. If I wanted to start a collection of them, I don’t know where I would start.

I just stopped preparing this piece and went to eBay and searched for Pinewood derby cars. Now I’m double stunified as there are plenty for sale and not $5 each... Whatta day for a old man to learn sumthin new.

I have too many collections now. BUT they really looked neat all together. I could easily envisage a derby modeled on my train layout with those cars in action. Or a outdoor movie with those cars parked in front of it. I have about 30 Hubleys on the layout now and the pinewoods would fit right in. By typing this I wishin I had bought them!

Not sure I've ever been stunified, but I do find that rather amazing!

Some one, some where will buy ANYTHING... I once had a yard sell and at the last minute decided that I would put a ton of Army equipment and uniforms out in a pile and post it for $2 a piece. Sold about half of what I had but sold every piece in that pile of junk. If they had wanted til the next week they could have got it for free in the trash.. LOL
