Default Stabilizer End Bushings On A '40

What's the best way to get a stuck stabilizer end bushings out? Does heat help or hurt? It is not rusted in, in fact it's a new bushing but stuck 3/4 of the way in and I am having a hard time backing it out. It is mushroomed on one end so it has to come out. Should I use the torch to expand the outer part? These are the same bushings as the front spring bushings.
