Fuel Pump and Regulator problem
I have a 2.5 psi fuel pump and a 1-4 psi regulator on my 4 banger and I cannot get the pressure I want. I'm running a stromberg 97 carb and want to end up with 1.75 psi. I think I have a faulty regulator. Aside from that, any thoughts or suggestions on what brand or type of fuel pump and regulator that you have/are using that might work for me? Thanks

Re: Fuel Pump and Regulator problem
I use a resistor to slow my Holley pump on my 6 volt Studebaker. It's a 12 volt Holley and even running on 6 volts still has way more pressure and volume than it can take. I drop the voltage to about 5 volts and get 2 1/2 lbs. of pressure.
Your carb should handle 2 1/2 lbs. of pressure. Why does it have to be 1.75? If the regulator is new, I'd exchange it for one that works. If it's no warranty, then I'd take it apart to see why it won't lower the pressure. |

Re: Fuel Pump and Regulator problem
I have had no problems using the Carter fuel pump that the vendors sell along with a Holly regulator set at 2-3psi feeding into a 97.

Re: Fuel Pump and Regulator problem
I go to a Subaru wrecker and get the fuel pumps out of one of their carburetor model cars. Cheap, reliable, right pressure and quiet. 12 volts only though.

Re: Fuel Pump and Regulator problem
I have a Zenith 2 and my fuel delivery system never fails. A benefit of keeping my car stock.

Re: Fuel Pump and Regulator problem
I don't run a pump with mine. I run a 48 carb, but it starts running out of gas with about 4 gallons left in the tank.

Re: Fuel Pump and Regulator problem
I use a Holley, I know Stromberg says 2 to 2.5 is good for the 97, but I was told by many to keep it at 1.0.
