Default Fuel Pump and Regulator problem

I have a 2.5 psi fuel pump and a 1-4 psi regulator on my 4 banger and I cannot get the pressure I want. I'm running a stromberg 97 carb and want to end up with 1.75 psi. I think I have a faulty regulator. Aside from that, any thoughts or suggestions on what brand or type of fuel pump and regulator that you have/are using that might work for me? Thanks

I use a resistor to slow my Holley pump on my 6 volt Studebaker. It's a 12 volt Holley and even running on 6 volts still has way more pressure and volume than it can take. I drop the voltage to about 5 volts and get 2 1/2 lbs. of pressure.

Your carb should handle 2 1/2 lbs. of pressure. Why does it have to be 1.75?

If the regulator is new, I'd exchange it for one that works. If it's no warranty, then I'd take it apart to see why it won't lower the pressure.

I have had no problems using the Carter fuel pump that the vendors sell along with a Holly regulator set at 2-3psi feeding into a 97.

I go to a Subaru wrecker and get the fuel pumps out of one of their carburetor model cars. Cheap, reliable, right pressure and quiet. 12 volts only though.

I have a Zenith 2 and my fuel delivery system never fails. A benefit of keeping my car stock.

I have had real problems with the round regulators that are marketed under various brands. I have used Holley regulators and have had no problems. I also run about 1.75 psi and have a gauge on the regulator. Without the pump, I had problems with my Stromberg (a new one) running out of fuel.

I don't run a pump with mine. I run a 48 carb, but it starts running out of gas with about 4 gallons left in the tank.

I use a Holley, I know Stromberg says 2 to 2.5 is good for the 97, but I was told by many to keep it at 1.0.
