Re: are these parts worth keeping
Joe E. Ct. will take them. They will end up in the woods behind his house. (Just kidding of course)

Re: are these parts worth keeping
My valve cover plate was cracked and a friend gave me his spare. A very nice gesture. Let your local club know and make a gift to someone.

I am really surprised at how many of my "junk" parts have actually been recycled and are now being used on thriving cars. (even some that I re-used myself!)

Re: are these parts worth keeping
I've regretted getting rid of anything. Well, not the first wife.

Re: are these parts worth keeping
Don't throw anything away! There's always craigs list Free section. The valve cover would have been very useful to when I found mine was cracked. Crankshafts are always desirable.

Re: are these parts worth keeping
I have just sold 1 complete oil pan and 1 baffle in the past 3 months for a total of $60. Never throw anything away unless it is completely broken beyond reasonable repair.

Re: are these parts worth keeping
I keep stuff like that. Like Pat says above, I too have usually regretted anything model A that I got rid of. If the rod sets match the crankshafts and the babbit isn't cracked they would be good to have. Usually, light rust will polish off the crank journals.Valve covers usually go for eight to ten dollars each. Good oil pans with baffles in usable condition can bring 50-60 dollars. The 1928 pans with removable clean out panel are worth more.

Re: are these parts worth keeping
Yes, for sure don't throw anything away. Even if it's too bad to use, such as a 21 inch rim with the rolled bead full of rust holes, it can be made into a nice lawn chair, or mailbox decoration.

Re: are these parts worth keeping
Not enough details.
The rods are always desired by someone. From a reuse perspective, rods that have not been filed and look to be original mates are much better. Knowing that the original ID of the steel is factory means you have proper thickness of babbitt. Not having filed caps means they will mate properly. Cranks need to be measured for roundness and runout. You also need to check they have the correct radius ground. If they are not ground correct they can sometimes be considered scrap. You can always find someone willing to give the parts a good home. |
