Got that right! Detroit still keeps trying to blow up old skyscrapers for parking lots that aren't needed anymore.

It only takes a minute to unload as long as no-one is in front of you. Can you imagine seeing your car swing pass you several times as you wait in a long line. Or if they do it first car off, you could be the first one there, but the last to leave. Then mix in loading.

Never been to Chicago. I would imagine the mechanism and the building is a regular parking lot by now?

This worked when the vintage engine rear crankshaft bearing was still new; LOL; hence, no engine oil drips.

Also, today, 2013, imagine one parking lot attendant forgetting to put the top up on someone's expensive convertible.

Next, an oil drip, thus causing a major law suit for one oil soaked interior upholstery & electronic devices ruined.

One court case could cost as much as the entire parking contraption -- just in case one ever wonders why we do not see these today? LOL

Looked like they had a solid center section to me to catch the drips.

I can remember similar style in NYC in the 50's and 60's.
