Have the light switch handle pointed straight down, then run a wood yardstick across it to hold it down, then install the spring, spider, and C clip.

Look inside the switch to make sure the slots are top and bottom to match up with the two tangs. I don't have a picture, but that would sure help.

Bill, Can't say I have ever seen any at Lowes or Home Depot. I thought perhaps and "E" clip would work...but have rethought that due to the spring tension that may over power it.
You may have to buy the kit, or try Bert's to see if they may have just the clip .
Good luck

I was hoping to be able to get them at a local store because it would be faster. I wanted to take it in the parade on Tuesday

Buy them by the dozen. They will get lost. Try your local Ford club.

I just pulled & replaced the spider on the horn rod. It has always been difficult to get the c clip in the slot as you can't see what you are doing, then it hit me, rotate the light switch handle on the steering wheel 90* to a horizontal position, then secure it to the wheel spoke, now when you install the spider, place it horizontal too. This way you can see the grove on the horn rod and drop in the c clip a lot easier. When you install the light switch remember to turn the handle vertical. With my fumble fingers, though, I still drop the c clip at least twice before I get it in. I have made c clips out of lock washers many times, bend the lock washer flat and cut it to match a c clip & smooth edges. Test fit it before you try it with spider & spring.

every one of the parts suppliers have them, I think they are .50 and buy a few in case you loose them and have a spare in your tool box.
