Default Worm Gear

Hello guys
On a seven tooth steering box will the worm gear come out the bottom of the box ? I am trying to avoid pulling the whole column out .

I see in a diagram the worm needs to go up a bit to remove a clip then it will come down. Might have to be pressed off the shaft though.

Why don't you pull the column? Bench work is pleasant

The worm gear is pressed on the shaft, there would be no room for it to come out the bottom with the shaft while still in the car. I am not sure it would come out anyway without removing the side plate that holds the 7 tooth gear.
