Default 1936 Ford Pick Up Glove Box Lining?

Does the 1936 Ford Pick Up's cardboard glove box have any inside lining? Did they use felt or any other lining than just it's cardboard shell? I purchased the re-pop glove box from eBay and it looks too fragile to survive without some type of lining.

Thank you for the quick reply. I will spray the cardboard with a clear preservative to give it a little more strength and life.

Passenger car glove box liners in 35/36 had brown cotton headliner material glued to the inside surface of the cardboard on the liner and the door insert.

My '36 pick up had a felt like material glued to the glove box door insert. Was this correct, or was it redone wrong?

Maybe it should have had a matching cardboard insert for inside the glove box door?

It was done incorrectly.

When the reproductions were made recently for the 35-37 pickups I was slightly involved in getting them made. I provided the sample for that liner as well as two others. The sample I provided was a original for the pickup. It did not have any material, just cardboard. Pretty good chance I may have been the seller you purchased yours from. Also note that Don Rogers reply above it for Passenger cars. Lastly pickups did not have a piece for the inside of the doors, again Dons reply on that was referring to passenger cars.

On my cars that I drive, I spray them inside and out with the waterproofing spray they made for shoes. Whether it does anything to prolong the condition of them, who knows

Pat, did you buy that pickup at Monroe? I was sooo tempted and the price seemed very reasonable. Oh, and I'm with the others on a spray to seal the glove box. Rustoleum now sells a matte clear. It will look like there isn't anything on it, but the cardboard won't wilt in our winter dampness.

Gary, Yep, I bought the '36 PU at the Monroe Swap Meet on Saturday, October 5th. The seller was a tough one to buy from. I first made an offer at 7:30 AM, and he was only taking bids and would not sell it until after 3 PM to the highest bidder. He asked me what I wanted to do with the truck if I bought it. I told him that I wasn't going to rod it and and that I was going to keep it "as is" and drive it. He had a number of of bids but they were all low balling him. I think that he sold it to me because of my intended use. I will use the matte clear spray to protect the glove box cardboard. Merry Christmas to all.
