Greetings - I'm a new member and purchased a 30 Pickup last May. I know by the serial number that it was built in September. Is there any way to find out on what day in September it rolled off the line?

Thanks for your help. Really glad I found you guys as at this point, I'm just beginning to understand what I don't know.

Hi Randy and welcome to Fordbarn.

So that we are specific, you mention the serial number is September however where that comes in is the time-frame by which the engine itself was stamped, --not the assembly of your Pick-up because remember that all engines were manufactured at the Rouge plant and then distributed to the different Branches (factories) around the country.

Lets see some pics of the truck-we love pics! Where are you in the world? You may consider joining a local/national club as well. They have lots of brains to pick when you have questions. But you did things in the correct order by starting here first

Thanks for the greetings and information. I live in Gainesville, VA which is about 40 mi W of Washington DC. I purchased my 30 Pickup last May and I'm enjoying working on it and driving it. Have done a few basic things to the engine, rebuilt the brake cross shaft and rebuilt the rear brakes. Not a show vehicle but I drive it a couple of times a week and enjoy talking with people who question me about it. I have attached a photo.

I know I'll have plenty of questions as I try to make it better but feel good about the resources on this site.

Welcome to the hobby. As people have said joining a local or national chapter is a good way to get information and assistance. Hope to see you along the Model A road soon. Since you like pickups I attached my roadster pickup picture.

As a side note... I found it interesting, while scrolling through Pluck's daily engine production numbers, that Ford sometimes produced over 9,000 engines per day. I'm trying to imagine the size of such a plant that could do that.

Welcome aboard! It's kind of lame to say "There are no stupid questions...." But it's true! The inquiries get pretty detailed sometimes. One thing that will help you is the knowledge that just about any common 10W30 oil is fine! for the engine and 600W is really 280W weight is what a mod A uses everywhere else (Trans, rear, steering box) Good luck and have fun!
