Bummer!
I didn't know this was even on... though I'd still be wary of driving THAT far! Shame you had to take the modern... bit more comfy though

Re: New Zealand 11th National Model A Rally
A beautiful day here in Thames. Sun shining, great to see the cars driving round in a town that was established on the back of the 1860s gold rush. Here are some of the cars

Re: New Zealand 11th National Model A Rally
Sorry about the car troubles. It looks like great fun!!! My wife and I want to visit New Zealand. Maybe we should plan it around your next event. I don't think I will bring my car though...my steering wheel is on the "wrong" side. When is the best time of year to visit and when are your events? Thx Steve

Re: New Zealand 11th National Model A Rally
Both of the AA cabs have a half window behind the door. Ive seen one in a pic taken at a California show I believe. It was LHD though. Who made those cabs and what are they called?
Thanks for posting all the nice pics! Here it is.....

Re: New Zealand 11th National Model A Rally
Both the AA trucks have local New Zealand built cabs, probably built by Standard Motor Bodies an offshoot of the New Zealand Importer.

They will announce the next Model A rally during the course of this rally. It will be in two years time, and they say Wanaka, in the South Island. I will confirm dates when it has been finalised.

Re: New Zealand 11th National Model A Rally
Here are some pictures from today, another fabulous day, great sea vistas etc. Some went to the 'Beach hop' 50,000+ people celebrating rock and roll, hot rods, and 50's car culture. Others went to the leadfoot festival, a private race course owned by Steve Millen who made a name for himself racing in the U.S.

Bick, next time something strips the threads, poke 1 or 2 skinny wires from a price tag in the hole & screw the bolt back in, it'll get you back to the barn! Bill W.

Re: New Zealand 11th National Model A Rally
Good tip Bill, I will put some fuse wire in the tool box, as no one puts price tags on anything here now, it is all bar codes!

Re: New Zealand 11th National Model A Rally
I like the fact that most of the "A"s have a period type front plate that proudly states 1928 A or A 1930 ..... I just think it makes them stand out more with original hardware than a modern plate front and back.
thanks again for sharing so many pics.

Re: New Zealand 11th National Model A Rally
Never heard of the pop can trick, Tom, sounds good! Baling wire is a life saver at times also, along with a ball of cookin' string for makin' ferrules & tying down stray distributor caps. One man lost his throttle rod from firewall to carb, twisted 3 or 4 strands of baling wire tightly together, twisted loops in the ends to go around the levers, just behind the balls, and drove home!
Someone mentioned once that if the big spring breaks on the firewall throttle lever, the throttle goes WIDE OPEN!! I'm going to add an extra regular spring to the carb lever, pulling back, just in case! YES, I'm a worry WORT! We've cataloged lots of common reasons why folks have breakdowns & failures & are tryin' to IDIOT proof Vermin before we FIRE him! (Within the week we'll be "ON THE ROAD AGAIN"!) Bill W.

Re: New Zealand 11th National Model A Rally
Nice pics.
Thanks a lot. Well, as this "A1930Vic" got its steering on the wrong side, its seems somewhat worthless.... I`d take it anyway. btw Good start, to measure in km |
