Default Stop/tail light

I have a 28 Tudor with the tuna fish can tail light, I also have bumper turning signals. I would like a LED stop/tail light higher up, like in the back window. Any suggestions for a light with out any modifications required? That little old tuna fish can gives me the wilies at night - maybe mount to the spare tire?

I fastened my third brake light to the spare tire with leather belts. Just need to tap into the tail and brake light wires. Works fine.

If you are meaning the Drum tail light, just get the LED insert for it. I have a 28 with just 1 tail light, got the LED version and you can see it from a mile away now :-)

This is my solution. All three have 6 volt L.E.D.'s. So far, so good!. Russ

My "Third" Brake Light. It has a clear lens but fill with RED LEDs. I believe there was a thread in the past on this, try the search.

I also added a M/C Stop light module. It flashes 5 times before going solid (hopefully to get someone's attention).

After being rear-ended I reluctantly installed red lens LEDs along with a third LED brake lite mounted to the spare which contains STOP imprinted in the lens. The hardest part was finding little leather belts to mount it, well, finding the belts was actually easy, finding cheap ones was the problem. [smiley face]

I'm not smart enough to post pictures let alone take them.

Yep, they're hard to find.

You will probably find that LEDs are quite directional. A bit like a laser beam that has maximum impact if pointed at the head of the following driver, rather than just pointed anywhere.

I use a Velcro strap. Holds good and doesn't look too bad. (Closer picture below.

Updraught, That used to be true but these days you can get LED's that fire at wide angles. The ones I use are 270° Red LED's.

I mounted my third light LED in the back window. A tudor, and it will just rest on the top of the back seat.

I bought mine from the ad in the model A magazines. It is a thin strip of LEDs in a narrow plastic housing that attaches to the inside of the rear window with sticky buttons. It can be wired as stop only, or as stop and turn signal, or turn signal only. I have it in my coupe and tudor, set up as stop and turn signal.

I have a 3rd LED brake light mounted inside the bottom of the rear window on my coupe. This light is 6vdc and also operates as a directional light. It is attached to the glass with 2 small 1/2" squares of heavy duty double faced adhesive backed velcro. This is very visible to the idiots following behind. I replaced the incadescent lamps in my dual rear tail lights with 6vdc yellow and red LED lamps which also operate as brake, directionals, and running lights.

I have red LEDs in my tea cups and an all red Third Brakelight on my luggage rack with Velcro so I can rotate it to the rear if the rack is down.

Photo shows left turn signal on.

Some do. We are not talking new cars here. I'm just saying you may want to check from the position of a following driver what angle works the best. It is a simple test. No animal testing.
