Default 36 Ford PU cowl vent screen installation

I bought a new screen from MACs that is supposed to fit my 36 Pickup. It appears to be too big to fit down in properly to allow vent to open and close freely.
Anyone experienced anything similar?

I have not bought any of the re-pop cowl vent screens so I cannot tell you for sure what the problem is, but a lot of the re-pop parts claim they fit 35-37 pickups because of the similarities between the three years and ignore the differences. The 35/6 cowl vent screens do not interchange with the 37 model year pickups so one size doesn't fit all.

This is the one Macs says fits 33-36 :
Part # 47-14911-1

Id return it if this what you ordered and it doesn't fit.
Is yours galvanized or black? The black one is for a car I believe.

From MACs websiteart no. 32-14911-1
Cowl Vent Screen/ 33-34 Pass. & 35-36 Pickup

I don't have the original screen so I don't know whether it was galvanized or painted. The new one is galvanized.
