Paint color sequence
I am beginning to look into painting my Model A.
I want to paint the center section the burgundy color that an original color for a 1931 SW 4D TS. The fenders, apron, and roof area are painted black. Question, Do I first paint the black color first and then mask for the burgundy color? Or do I first paint the burgundy color and then the black color? Perhaps the sequence does not matter. Thanks, |

Re: Paint color sequence
Burgandy 1st because it is the main color; the black upper body is accent; Check the judging standards and De Angeles, Henry book, The Ford Model A etc. for the correct colors and areas. The '31 SW is different than in your photo with the upper body window reveals painted black which makes the upper body painting simpler. Suggest installing the roof 1st (after a coat of color to cover some hidden metal surfaces), then mask off and final paint the roof & hidem (metal moulding) at the same time.
