Re: 1932 ford roadster quest
There is woven strap that is used. Available from suppliers. The last bolt in the back is not designed to be pulled tight. There was a rubber block there.

Re: 1932 ford roadster quest
Originally there was 1/16" x 2" woven webbing from the front edge of the firewall legs back until the start of the frame kick up for the rear axle. From there rearward there were two 2" x 2" rubber pads on each side. The rearmost was 1/4" thick; the one forward of that was 1/8" thick.
As shown below, there was a running change in the rearmost body-to-frame attachment to prevent cracks in the rear edges of the quarter panels. It involved more than just not tightening the rearmost body-to-frame bolts. This illustration and hundreds more are all in the V8 Club's The 1932 Ford Book, A Production Chronicle and Restoration Guide. |

Re: 1932 ford roadster quest
i just did this to my 34, and made a nice tool to cut the holes. the material is tuff, my gasket puncher tool would not make a good cut, so i took an old 5/8 hole saw with some busted teeth, ground them all off and sharpened the edge. you can find center with an awl, then poke it thru, then you have a hole started for the bit in the center of the hole saw, then saw the hole on a piece of wood with cordless drill. it makes a perfect hole very quickly.
