'31 Tudor good choice for 6 ft 6 guy?
Ive been reading forums and have always liked Fords of the early 30's. I gather that the Ford Tudor is the best option for a guy 6 ft 6 with 34 inseam? I am looking at three 1931 Tudors but they are far from me.Any suggestions? Thanks!

First suggestion: add your general location to your profile. Someone may invite you over to sit in theirs if you are close.
Second suggestion: attend a meeting or two of your local model A Club, there will probably be one in the parking lot. Third suggestion: attend car shows and swap meets. Charlie Stephens |

A tudor is probably one the of the best body styles for individuals that are tall as the seat can be moved backed easily with minor modifications.

Re: '31 Tudor good choice for 6 ft 6 guy?
All tudor bodies are essentially the same dimension. The 31 Deluxe did have an adjustable driver's seat (fore and aft) which may help some. For all others, an offset seat leg is available...
http://www.mikes-afordable.com/product/A47902EXT.html ...which moves the seat 1.5-2 inches rear ward. I'm 6'2 and even with the offset legs I have to twist my way into the car. Be sure before you buy one that you actually fit...even with the Deluxe adjustable seat or the offset legs.

Re: '31 Tudor good choice for 6 ft 6 guy?
I am tall. 36" inseam. I have a 29 Fordor. It was too tight to drive safely or comfortably so I moved the seat back about 2.5 inches. Very comfortable and rear seat has plenty of room. That is a fixed seat on the Fordors so just removed the screws holding it to the floor and door post, moved it back to where I wanted. Made a bracket out of two L brackets for the door posts. Works great and unless you know where to look, you'd never know it.

I would agree that a Tudor is probably your best bet There are some reproduced aftermarket Tudor seat adjusters that will give you extra length back as well The gearshift lever may be challenging but by redrilling the pin hole it can be relocated slightly as well for long legs. As Charlie said let us know where you are located at Larry Shepard St Charles mo Last edited by larrys40; 10-02-2016 at 08:13 PM. |

Re: '31 Tudor good choice for 6 ft 6 guy?
I am 6'3, 36' inseam and I drive a 31 Tudor. I have added an slider for my seat it helps. But I have to look under the windshield header that makes my back and neck sore after awhile.
The seat is a couple of inches taller than the passenger side. On the passenger side I have no problem see out! Good luck! And welcome to the Barn! I see your third post. Last edited by Big hammer; 10-02-2016 at 08:24 PM. Reason: Addition |

Re: '31 Tudor good choice for 6 ft 6 guy?
I am 6' 3" with a 34" inseam. I have no problem driving our 1928 Tudor with the seat set back on its original mounts. My wife looks for the traffic lights for me, if she is not with me, I just hang back to keep the lights in view.
No problem for me to get in and out, but I only weigh 195lbs, with a 33" waist. |

Re: '31 Tudor good choice for 6 ft 6 guy?
There are several different "sliders" or improvs, including modern more comfortable seats, that make the Tudor nice. I to have a 34" inseam, and at least in the past, have liked being way back from the wheel. The Tudor seats them selves are horrid imo.

Re: '31 Tudor good choice for 6 ft 6 guy?
At 5' 18", I have found that Model A body styles with windows are hard to drive. My clutch leg jams up under the steering wheel and getting my size 14's onto the pedal is an iffy situation. On the other hand, Roadsters and Station Wagons are easier for me because they have no windows. No windows means a skinnier door and no window winder. Clutch leg fits easily between the door and the wheel. PERFECT!
My brake leg has the same problem when shifting from 1st to reverse and from 1st to second. Easy fix is to heat the shifter about 6" above the floor and bend it toward Janet's side. She doesn't complain. If you are a Snow Bird or if you live down South all year 'round, the Roadster is the best body style. A Station Wagon is great, too. Both are big boy's toys! |

Oh and avoid one with side mount spares - doesnt allow the doors to fully open.

Tudor is a good choice.
If you want to spend a little more and have something special, go for the Vicki. The doors are easy to get in and out of and plenty of room. I have a 34 inseam and 6 1''. |
