Default Mechanical temp gauge

I have put a mechanical temp gauge on my 29 A using a ‘36 LB Flathead. Today I wanted to prime it before I actually start it. I had some oil coming out of the port when turning it over but oil was not coming up my copper line to my gauge once I installed it. I understand the pressure would be quite low on turning it over but the hole in the copper tubing is so small. The fact that I had oil coming out of the port with no line tells me the pump is working but what should I expect out of the gauge as far as pressure? It is a original ‘36 pump. How does oil make its way up that tiny tube opening?

I meant oil pressure. Sorry guys, probably seems like I have no idea.

I think you have to crack the line at the gauge to let trapped air out. G.M.

The only thing you want to watch is vibration on the diesel engine.
Route the leads off the engine sending units so they can flex. Years
ago I did several diesel implants. One was a 6 cylinder Nisson diesel
engine. I made a transmission adaptor for a Borgwarner super 210
transmission. This was in about a 65 Chevy P/U. This was over 50
years ago so I may have parts names wrong. There was a guy in
Torrance,Ca. that did a lot of diesel implants. His name was Tony
Capana. I talked with him a few times and he helped me, he even
sent me some parts and wouldn't take any money. There were 4,6
and 8 cylinder versions of this Nission engine. He did a bunch Pinto's
with the 4 cyl engine. He said people were using them for taxi cabs
because they were so cheap to operate. G.M.

I just Googled Tony Capana and also Wilcap the name Tony operated under. You
have to go to www.wilcap.com You will find pages of the most interesting
diesel conversions ever done. One guy said he got 85 MPG around town in a
Pinto with the 4 cyl Njsson diesel. G.M.

Back in the '50s, Tony did numerous engine swaps that were covered in Hot Rod Mag.
