Default Horn button removal 39 pickup

I've tried pushing in and turning.
I don't wish to break anything

On a stock 39 pickup the horn rod must be removed which gives access to the tabs on the underside of the rod. Those tabs must be straightened so that is releases the ring that holds the horn button. Re-bending those tabs to put it back together often breaks the tabs. Not a fun job. Why do you need to remove the button?

I agree with Alan. Very hard to remove bolted to the dash.

thanks very much, in my 40MERC the button is rotated left and jumps right off. I'll check the light switch area. I'm not going to remove the rod.
