standard vs deluxe
I will be picking up a 31 coupe on Friday just trying to figure if standard or deluxe. It does not have cowl lights so I am guessing standard I have read what I could find and about all I could see in the difference was the cowl lights and different interior. Not real import just cautious will have a few real questions once I get the car.

Re: standard vs deluxe
So many of the Coupes (and Roadsters) have been converted from Standard to Deluxe that it is almost a plus to find a "Standard". Gar Williams

Re: standard vs deluxe
Thanks that is what I figured that these cars have been updated over the years. The interior has been recently done it has a rumble seat no cowl lights and not sure if it has a dome light its not home yet. I guess I will call it a Standard.

Re: standard vs deluxe
Keep it a standard...most everyone wants to put a lot of accessories or deluxe pieces on them... Henry tried to keep it simple...it's nice to see a standard car.. Thanks, .Big John

Re: standard vs deluxe
I agree, Big John...Standard Coupes and Roadsters are too few and far between. If my latest coupe wasn't a factory Deluxe, it would remain a Standard for sure.

Re: standard vs deluxe
I have a 1929 Feb Tudor. Older restoration. Think is a standard, interior was never installed. When ordering it ask about standard or delux. How can I tell?

Re: standard vs deluxe
Deluxe Tudors didn't come out until mid-way through 1931. All Tudors made prior to the Deluxe's introduction are simply Tudor Sedans, no matter how much chrome junk an owner slaps on it.

Re: standard vs deluxe
Model A’s are no different than the people that own them.
We were all born stock, but as we get older, some of us just wear to much jewelry and makeup. Enjoy. |

Re: standard vs deluxe
Aok, I picked up a standard coupe in south NJ about a month ago. Right now it's in pieces in my garage. A companion to my 31 CCPU. The coupe has no wood graining, no dome light, no cowl lights, no drop down rear window and no pin striping on the dash. But mine did come with a lot of rust.

Re: standard vs deluxe
I met a pair of guys in the mid-70's,who were in their mid-70's,that had DeLuxe Roadsters. They both insisted their cars were factory DeLuxe cars. Both cars were matching engine and frame numbers, one was a February car and the other a May car. Some of their purist A friends tried to point out some of the facts of life to them, but they knew everything,so it was like talking to rocks. They were nice to me because I acted like everything they told me was gospel. Both cars had dual bolted on sidemounts, not riveted, filled holes where the rear spare mount was, bolted in rumble conversion, again, not riveted. Both trunk lids had been converted to rumble lids. One car had a flat firewall, not indented, and both cars had the early instrument panels, something else the DeLuxe never saw. These guys were the self-appointed Model A experts in this area.
