Default The Arsenal Of Democracy

I just finished "The Arsenal Of Democracy" by A.J.Baine. It is a great book which centers around the conflicts between Edsel and Henry Ford and the creation of the Willow Run Ford plant to produce one B-24 bomber every minute during WW2.

Not only do we have Edsel to thank for our model A Fords not just being a slightly upgraded model T, but without Edsel the only Fords being driven in Europe during WW2 would have been driven by the Germans!

The book is available on Audible so you can listen to it while working on your model A. That's what I did. Now I think I should look into getting an Edsel!

I spent 31 years working inside that plant-a remarkable building that I explored top to bottom whenever I could. Unfortunately, almost all of it was recently torn down, leaving just the very end of the mile-long plant for a new museum for the Yankee Airforce

it has been said that Edsel never got the credit he deserved and he was the company whipping boy ! I have read most if not all the Ford books and I agree ! Wayne

At least you got to see Willow Run when it was still in one piece and you could imagine what it would have looked like filled with B-24s.
