1935 Ford Front Floor mats
I have been calling around (DC, Cartouche, Drake etc) and not found the correct mat.
Without restating the historical info already posted my question of the day: Is anyone making a Taupe floor mat for the 1935?

Re: 1935 Ford Front Floor mats
I do not believe anyone is making a taupe colored floor mat. Micheal will confirm this.

Re: 1935 Ford Front Floor mats
I asked him about the taupe floor mats for '35's a couple three months back. He said he didn't have them.
I just assumed he didn't have a source. He has a lot of good stuff. He's a great source for parts n stuff I very much enjoy doing business with. A-1 |

Re: 1935 Ford Front Floor mats
I friend of mine needed a taupe mat a few years ago. At the time Michael said there wasn't a source.

I ask as Carpenter has the '35 - '36 mat listed as one and the same. I'd purchased two from him just last year. Item #4000-7013000-T, $179.95, Benton Gray (not taupe).

Re: 1935 Ford Front Floor mats
'35 and '36 transmissions are different so '35 and '36 transmission covers are different so '35 and '36 front floor mats are different. DO NOT buy a '36 front floor mat to put in a '35. It will not fit.

Re: 1935 Ford Front Floor mats
Waiting to hear from 3rd Gen. in the mean time I called DC again.
I was disappointed with Dennis Carpenter. They can quote their catalog well but it seems as though they are not willing to answer any questions regarding the floor mats they supply. Was trying to determine if they would be willing to include the taupe color from their supplier when they do a production run. Maybe someone else has a friend at DC & knows who to speak to.

What's the difference in the transmissions between the two years? I thought they shared the same case. No? Yes? I bought the Carpenter mats for my '36. They fit beautifully. I realize I have tons to learn about my '36.

Re: 1935 Ford Front Floor mats
Mike,
Yes, same transmission case, but not the shift lever housing whose tower was straightened to the vertical and moved forward on the '36s. In addition, the molded-in patterns on the mats are entirely different and the color was changed from taupe to Benton Gray. Last edited by DavidG; 01-14-2020 at 11:19 AM. Reason: spelling |

Re: 1935 Ford Front Floor mats
The 1935 Taupe mat is not reproduced.. They are available in Black, but the vendor producing them is unwilling to make them in taupe. The best option is to Paint the mat a taupe color using a rubber/vinyl paint.

Your knowledge is amazing. Thanks for the good information. I learn something new here almost daily. It's probably not practical knowledge but very useful hobby knowledge. I've always said I wish my V8 Ford knowledge made me money! Hope you're doing well. Seth |

Re: 1935 Ford Front Floor mats
I spoke with a person at Carpenter's today about making the current black mat in Taupe as well... We are a dealer with them. They are checking on doing a limited run of 35's in Taupe for me.. I'll have an answer by the end of the week, but I'm very very doubtful/

I could give you a "pre-order" right now for 3ea. at least. FYI OR "IF" it helps you determine a single run order. Last edited by rockfla; 01-14-2020 at 12:34 PM. |

I had asked about the transmissions as V8ER stated they were different. I found that difficult to believe but hey, I've seen some odd things on my '40s! I knew (from reading) that the lever was modified but didn't realize that placed it in a different position. Once again, thanks for the teachable moments. I enjoy this

Re: 1935 Ford Front Floor mats
Greetings Everyone. Michael if there's any chance of it happening I'd be willing to send money or reserve a spot to pre-order one too if it helps! I'm sure John Mason will want a half-dozen!

Re: 1935 Ford Front Floor mats
Try Googling Yesteryear Ford. I bought a taupe one for my 35 Convertible
Sedan last year. Maybe they have another one. Good Luck, Peter |
