30 coupe rumble seat floor panel
Should the rumble floor panel have a slight front to back curve and if so, is the curve consistent from side to side?
This is the floor panel I'm talking about. https://www.brattons.com/flat-rumble...floor-pan.html My question is it really flat? Mine is solid but slighty curved down in the middle. Perhaps sagging after 90 years (as most things are☺) Last edited by dmaxweb; 01-11-2020 at 06:21 PM. |

Re: 30 coupe rumble seat floor panel
These old cars likely had a very wide variety of loads placed upon them back in the day. It would have been flat when the car was new but no telling how much abuse it may have been subjected to. My 29 Sport Coupe has the pan that is angled up to fit to the fixed front seat riser so it holds it shape better on those earlier models. The 30/31 cars were different since they had some adjustment to the front seat. The panel is set between braces so there is no bracing underneath. The beads are all that is there to hold its shape.

Re: 30 coupe rumble seat floor panel
The curve is a distortion in the photo likely due to a wide angle lens on the camera. The panel is a flat rectangle (parallel sides) which was originally riveted onto the body.

The panel is attached by machine screws and square nuts underneath. I read somewhere that both methods were used depending on production date. |
