Re: Clay Smith cam specs
Hi Dale:
Do you have a Clay Smith grind in mind particularly? I have the specs for a 272-2 and 284-2. Keep in mind almost all Clay Smith cams are fairly low lift when compared to their counterparts. Not saying they don't run well, just letting you know they are not high lift cams. |

I also have specs on a 270X with .375 lift and a radius 454 with .400 lift.

Re: Clay Smith cam specs
Thanks for the reply Tim,What I'm doing is building a 39 block,my very first flattie and doing as much reaseach on different cams,I was really thinking of going with the L100 but thought to myself what specs did clay smith have on his cams but have struck out in finding any info,I mainly really what a mild cam, good for the street but just different from the norm that everyone uses. Any info on his cams and lifter combos would be great . Dale

Ah, got it. If you are set on running a Clay Smith cam, give them a ring and talk to them. It is a family run business and they'll be more than happy to talk to you about what they can offer. Good luck. Tim |

Re: Clay Smith cam specs
The 270 is listed as a race cam. Has a lot of overlap, so would not be a good candidate for a street cam.

Re: Clay Smith cam specs
Quote from Pete on the HAMB:
"I get a big kick out of these discussions. If people only knew. Take 6 cams from the old days with SIMILAR SPECS and degree them. They were all pirated from one cam grinder to another." He would be a good person to talk with, my understanding is he can grind you about anything you want. |
