Default License plate lamp on 52?

I have a 52 Crestline with a continental kit installed. Where does the licen e plate lamp go? In fact where is it on a standard back end?

As I recall the original is below the gas door/marker mount and below the top of the bumper.
Generally an accessory plate lamp/marker bracket is used when the marker plate is moved.

Is it a true continental kit or the "Coronado" kit?

I am pretty sure it is factory. Maybe Ford Barners can tell me more about it. I have a 1952-53 Book from the Early Ford V8 Club and it doesn't mention the continental kit as an accessory. If it is factory, then it should have included a provision for the license plate lamp. I assume the other continental kit is the one that looks like it was just "stuck" on the trunk lid.

That appears to be and accessory kit sold by some aftermarket store like Western Auto or J.C. Whitney. There's no hubcap in the middle or it's just missing. The guys who wrote the V-8 Club's 52-53 Ford book were very thorough and if it was an authorized Ford accessory I would think it would have been listed by them. The "Coronado" kit was the one that was part of the trunk lid. It was a genuine Ford accessory.

I didn't see the other continental kit in the accessory section of the book either. I do have the trim hubcap that the previous owner re-chromed. I noticed that backup light were an accessory. I guess they are added on to the bumper. I might need something like that for the license plate lamp.

Scott if there is no Ford emblem of any kind on that hubcap or a Ford part # I think it's an after market accessory. If you have the V-8 Club's 52-53 books you can call the authors or e-mail them. Both are listed in the V-8 Club roster.

I used the license plate light from 1950-53 MGTD. Part # 144-200 from Moss Motors. $19.95. Pictures attached from my 49 convertible.

Hope this helps,

Tom

Jersey, That light looks nice. What is it attached to? Your continental kit looks similar to mine. Is it factory?

This is a period type marker light that mounts to the top of the marker.
It is available on Ebay-----

Continental kit was manufactured by Continental Enterprises, kelowna, British Columbia, Canada. They are still in business.

Was on the car when I purchased it, honestly I could have lived without it.

As far as mounting it would be easy to fabricate a mounting bracket for the lamp. The lamp I used is available from Moss Motors.

Don’t know about back up lights, mine are mounted on the body not the bumper.

Hope this helps,

Tom

Thumbing page by page thru the restore manual from the ford Club, I did find the Coronado Deck, license light assembly and backup lights. Thanks for all the responses.
