Radiator Hoses

I have a 1939 1/2 ton Ford truck, it has the original radiator and a 48-53 8BA Engine. I’m going to need radiator hoses (top and bottom). I know that the radiator and water inlets are different sizes. Wondering where to buy hoses and if anyone knows part numbers. Thanks

I have the same truck. Love it.
I have a aftermarket radiator so I had to chase around for the hoses. I think I got the longest NAPA had for the upper hoses. Maybe Carpenter for the bottoms. I deal a lot with Carpenter.

Not yet. Just rebuilt transmission, now doing water pumps and radiator. Then brakes. Having fun learning something new.

good for you. These horse collar years-38/39 are fun. Not common. Parts are available.

Be sure to get the repro thin accessory book. It shows where the brake lines fit. I used Tyree's wiring harness. The green book has some good diagrams. Drake I think it is , sells the sliding rear window accessory. That solves the heat problem in the cab.

my 39 pkup still had the metal upper hoses tho they were full of rusty holes .but a muffler shop was able to use them for patterns an make new ones .then I just used straight hose on both ends to complete the connection. My 47 pkup has the same steel pipes SUNSHINE.

Why don't you try C G ford parts in. Escondido CAl? 760 740 2400 great people to deal with call them they send you catalog SUNSHINE.

drake sells water outlets for heads that are larger than the stock ones that allow you to use same size hose as your orriginals. i just got a set for my 8ba that i plan for my 39 car. they are stainless steel and of good quailty.

I've got an 8ba in my '39. I was running flex hoses with a reducer to adapt down from the 1 3/4 inch '39 upper radiator top inlet to the 1 1/4 inch thermostat housing inlet on the 8ba. I think I still have the part number in the shop and maybe the hoses since I changed over to 1 3/4 inch thermostat housings that I got from Model Engineering (cheaper than Drakes and they had them when Drake was on back order) which allows me to run flex 1 3/4 inch flex hoses on both ends. I'll check for numbers next time I'm in the shop.

I think these numbers are correct if you want to use flex hose:
Dayco 81231 1 3/4 x 1 1/2 x 13 1/4 then you will need a Dayco 769251 1 1/2 x 1 1/4 reducer
I have a complete set of flex hoses and reducers that no longer fit my truck since I changed to a Brass Works radiator (upper hoses come out straight not not at an angle like a stock radiator) and I'm using thermostat housings with 1 3/4 inlet not stock 1 1/4. I'm in Redlands and you can have them if you want. They don't have many miles on them. PM if interested.

Honest Charlie's, Chattanooga as well as Bob Drake have the outlets for the single diameter hose
